Just a quick catch up as I haven’t mailed you in a while.
The first few months of the year have been relatively quiet but we did see an armed robbery and a hijacking.
Hijackings have become very common lately and occur as always, largely when you come home. In many instances, we have seen the victim taken with the car so one’s bank account can be accessed. The victim is found later dropped off and the car in some cases, found. Please always take care when returning home.
Crime remains a really big problem, and comes in so many forms that one has to be alert at all times and sadly has become very violent.
Many would have seen of late as to how residents of areas and even municipalities have had to start doing cleaning of areas for themselves. Service delivery in many areas in non-existent or sorely lacking. CKN, thanks to Joy and her team are making a huge difference in CKN and we can proudly say we do live in a well-maintained area.
The council cutting programme does not allow for regular clean ups etc. We have some illegal advertising in and around CKN and these are with JMPD and they will be fining and removing the eyesores.
Please sign the petition that has been drawn up around speeding and the dangerous intersection at Golf Club Terrace and Constantia Drive. Please see Cynthia between 17h30 and 18h30 on Thurday, 5 March in the Acanthus Street park.
To those that wanted vehicle stickers and their gates checked, the stickers are coming and Dowry will be in touch when I finalise the list.
Other than the above, I don’t have much.
In closing, I want to thank Johan who is our parting treasuerer, he is leaving the area, for all his help and support over the past years. Welcome to Lloyd from Bloubos who has agreed to take over as treasurer.
Then, we are also losing our vice-chairman. Keith and Barbara are moving to something smaller. Thanks Keith for the time and effort you put into CKN over many years.
