FROM THE RESIDENTS' PATROL DESK

Dedication

“Taking back our streets”

We have an ever increasing team of dedicated members that voluntarily free up a little of their time and in doing so are making a big difference. Thanks for being one of these men.

The mindset is simple, 2 hours once or twice a month and to do so on a recurring basis thus creating a safer neighbourhood for all, especially our women and children.

We welcome you to join us in our team of volunteers. Our resident patrols continue to operate alongside Aqua.

To register your time-slot please contact Liezel

We work very closely with the SAPS, and help is close at hand. Honeydew Police Station 011 801 8613 / 4 / 5

REMEMBER

A patrol member or the Aqua car can meet you at your home should you be coming home late.

Contact Aqua (083 646 9558) about 20 minutes prior to your estimated time of arrival.

Our children play and ride their bicycles in our streets and our residents walk their dogs. Please be observant of this.

Let’s all obey the 40km/h speed limit zoned for our area.

13th May 2010

Dear CKN Members

Thanks to all you men that have come through in our suburb’s time of need. We have had 3 weeks of bliss.

Just to highlight the recent past, some heard the echo’s of gunshots, encountered the numb feelings of missing vehicles, stolen gate motors and so many more unacceptable intrusions.

Let’s not focus too much on the doom and gloom of the first quarter of 2010 but rather look at the phenomenal change we have experienced over the last three weeks. The time given by
our first batch of volunteers seems to have been without a second thought. Our men have been instrumental in creating a visual barrier by their presence alone. We are now united and
stronger than we have been for quite some time. To all of you that have given us recurring time-slots and to those of you that fill the slots at the end of every week, thank you.

The reality is that we do need more of you men to join our team.
Not all of our team are available to help out this weekend and it has left us with some gaps that need filling on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Here is how you can help:

To do a Resident Patrol for 2 hours once or twice a month and to do so on a recurring basis creating a safer neighbourhood for all, especially our women, children and senior citizens.

Our resident patrols continue to operate alongside Aqua.

Kind Regards

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

14/06/2010

Thanks to everyone doing patrols. After having been high-jacked twice, in 2005 and 2006, your presence makes things much easier

I want to say thanks to folk like yourselves that avail your time for the community to make CKN, which is already a fantastic place to live, even better and safer.

It has been so reassuring coming home late in the evenings and being guaranteed of a green light or two riding up and down. Friends from out of our area were very impressed with the effort being made and as a bunch of girls in the house I would like to extend our gratitude and thanks.

Thanks so much for all the arrangements – I was also more aware of the car at night in Bloubos.
