Hi all
Some quick news.
Attempted car theft this morning in Kroton Street, Aqua interrupted 3 black males tampering with a car. They fled in an Audi - SDT 015 GP.
Car was parked on the pavement.
Regrettably there was also a suicide in Kroton Street last week.
Can all patrol members please check on their duties for the month so we can improve our visibility. We now move into the "silly" season and problems are bound to pick up.
The extra car will start soon but it also your and my responsility to look after ourselves.
I am going to ask for some help on Sat afternoon 13 Dec for an hour to help pick up litter in the area (if it does not rain) at 14h00. Please meet in the park in Acanthus at and bring along some black bags. Litter sin the area is getting out of control. Can someone help with a bakkie to collect the bags?
This will be the second last mail for the year as I will be on leave soon, so a reminder to please check on your subs and also the extra R100 to cover the additional car and a bonus for the Aqua drivers.
Stay safe

Hi all
Car stolen in Worsboom on Thursday afternoon, 2nd car within a few days. Car on the pavement, what more can I say!
The SPAR on Jim Fouche was robbed again on Sunday by a large gang at about 11h30. One of our residents was on the shop at the time and she was assaulted.
The Aqua office phone cables have been stolen so if you need the car, please phone the cell number.
Please check subs are up to date as we are going with an extra car over Dec and Jan and we will also be giving the two Aqua drivers a bonus this year.

If you have not heard there was an armed robbery at the SPAR on Jim Fouche on Sat evening.
A gang of about 8 armed robbed the shop.
Sadly one of the cashiers, a young Indian man, was killed in the robbery. Another person was injured.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Hi all
My mail of last weeks requires some updating. Regretably residents are not advising me of problems so we can not make plans to counter problems in the area and make others aware of same. Please inform me immediately of any problems encountered, suspicious cars and people.
Approximately two weeks ago a house in Acanthus was broken into - overnight - and numerous items taken. Remember such an event can result in a robbery - is gun/knives used if anyone wakes up. This was followed by a similar incident in the same road a day or two later.
On Saturday 25 Oct, there were two attempted burglaries in Worsboom, no access gained. Same night an attempted burglary in Kroton, no access gained to a business premises.
Sunday night 26 Oct, two cars broken into in Lichus Street.
The majority of homes have electric fences and dogs and so these offered no deterrent.
On a very sad and shocking note a babies body was found in a dirt bin in Worsboom Street last Monday. An arrest has been made and the person in question confessed to the incident.
As you can see incidents continue after what I thought was a quiet period. It still appears these incidents are being perpetrated by some one/people in the area as they are all concentrated in one area of CKN. Take care at all times. We will be putting additional measures in place to combat these crimes, especially in the run up to the festive season.
As we have done over the past 5 years, we will look at an extra patrol car but this will involve some extra cash. Can I ask for an additional R100 over the next two months to cater for an extra car?
An anti-crime weekend is once again also planned.
Any comments appreciated.

Please forward to all residents in the CKNRAC area. It is their right to know. Stamperboom Street.
* * *
We were the victims of a home invasion in the early hours of Saturday morning, sometime between 3:30 and 5:20am.
The incident took place whilst we were sleeping, and fortunately we escaped any physical harm.
What residents need to please note is that entry was through what we had previously considered to be one of the strongest points of our home - we have a sliding armourplate glass door leading onto our patio with a trellidor behind that. The thugs had broken the armourplate (much as the side windows of cars are broken - armourplate shatters and after the initial thud does not make any breaking glass noise at all). The trellidor had then been cracked open at the rivet joints - we are not exactly sure how.
The thugs then ransacked our home of all portable electronic and computer goods as well as priceless items such as our guitar etc. We are also clueless as to why we remained asleep and unaware throughout the ransacking. We awake to find the front door adjar at 5:25am and a very groggy dog in the garden.
This incident has obviously been well planned and our home had been watched. They also knew the aqua car schedule.
Please be aware of any out of ordinary happenings. On Thursday late afternoon our dog had jumped atop the wall and we found portions of the electric fence wire damaged. We had attributed this to our excitable dog - and we were in hindsite obviously quite wrong as it is now apparent that the fence was in fact being tested for weak points and areas that could be easilly insulated / covered to gain entry the next day.
A little too late I guess but we will obviously be much more vigilant into the future.
Please take care people and be extra vigilant too during this troubling time.
Whilst we are most grateful to be physically unharmed, we are quite shaken and extremely saddened but what is happening in this otherwise beautiful country of ours.
The police inpsector who visited us mentioned a task team had been set up to specifically investigate the current crime wave in the Honeydew precint.

Hi all
No news of late has been good news. Quiet in the area after the recent theft out of car in Worsboom. Please report anything suspicious.
Take care at all times as problems abound, a large gang of armed men robbed fruit and veg at Hillfox on Monday morning.
Aqua assisted in catching house breaking suspects who burgled a house up above us and were chased by Florida SAPS into CKN. Shot were fired.
Our new park should start taking shape soon, as soon as ready for opening we'll arrange a get togther in the park for CKN.
Thanks to all those that brought their subs up to date, finances looking healthier.
Think all for now
Stay safe

Hi John,
Had a guy here just now to look at my alarm. He was recommended to us by my son-in-law. 3 guys in an old car, two guys stayed in the car and Frans came inside the house to check out the alarm. Next minute, the police arrive. Two big policemen in a Ford bakkie. Aqua phoned them, he did not like the 2 guys sitting in the car in front of my house. The police talked to the guys, spoke to me and left. The policemen were very professional.
That is what I call service, from SAP and Aqua.
Regards,
Magda

Hi all
What appears to have been a quiet period in the area saw a burglary in Worsboom on Monday and a theft out of a car, also in Worsboom last night.
As always our problems over the past months have all come from the same area. We have a lead that is being pursued by the police or is it all the building in these streets?
Crime remains a huge problem so please take care at all times.
Thank you to all those that assisted over the weekend with additional patrols. Another weekend will be set soon so please get involved.
Thank you also to all those that have brought their subs up to date. We can not afford to lose the car riding around 24hrs.
Good news on the R1mil upgrade to the park in Kroton street.
Think that's all for now

11 August 2008 - Important note to CKN
Over the past few days, CKN has seen a number of crime related problems.
The armed robbery in which someone was followed home has been advised to you but subsequently there was a burglary in Papaja Street - fortunately an alert neighbour heard the glass breaking, investigated and ended up chasing the suspects and catching one. Time, approximately midday. The house was probably targeted as it stands empty for lengthy periods.
The following morning at approximately 06h00, Aqua caught two suspects attempting to steal or break into a bakkie in Worsboom Street. The suspects fled over a wall and got away. The vehicle was parked outside.
I can only but urge you to be aware of crime at all times. Make sure you are not being followed, your house looks like it is occupied, vehicles are not left out or on pavements and any suspicious items are removed from your pavement. Remember most crimes are planned.
Once again I must also urge you to get onto the email distribution for the area. I send out advices immediately advising of problems in the area and if things are quiet, I will still send a weekly email stating that things are quiet. If you are not getting at least one email a week from me, I either do not have your address or have an incorrect one. Contact me at
chairman@ckn.org.za We are also now placing all the emails that are dispatched on the website, so you can check these here as well – www.ckn.org.za.
We are also experiencing non payment of subs and in many cases, random payments from many members which is placing the 24 patrol car in jeopardy. Please ensure your membership fees are up to date. We need a regular income of funds to keep Aqua who also implemented their annual increase as from the beginning of this month.
Finally, due to all the problems in the area, we will hold an anti-crime weekend, starting on the evening of 29 August and ending at midnight on 31 August. All patrollers, please check for your times and if you are not a regular patrol member but wish to assist please contact Brian Williamson at
brianson@iafrica.com. All we ask is one hour of your time over the weekend. Visible policing works.

Attempted car theft at no 29 Worsboom at about 06h00 this morning. |
05.08.2007
An update on an attempted burglary at number 11 Papaja St, from one of the residents involved.
"We heard glass breaking and there were two black guys at the house next door. They had broken the bedroom window.
One was hiding round the side. We chased them down Kroton St. and caught the one guy but the other got away.
We phoned the Aqua office the car came, chased but couldn’t find him. They have the one guy. They didn’t manage to get in, had just broken the window before they were disturbed.
Aqua have the guy handcuffed to gate." |
04.08.2008
Hi all
Whilst things have quietened down in the area, please still be aware at all times. Two house robberies, one where folk were followed home does not make one feel safe.
Lets hope this is a passing phase. If you see any car without number plates please report immediately.
At present , despite is acquiring many new members, payments appear to be declining. We are not covering the monthly 24 car at present as payments are very add hoc and this is making things difficult for the committee. Please check if you are up to date on your payments. As month end/beginning please check for us.
Our treasurer - Magda, can be contacted on - jdekloe@mweb.co.za.
Finally, the bill board at the cnr of Golf Club and Constantia Drive has raised much concern. See local newspaper. Do we as a neighborhood petition for its removal?
Think all for now.
Stay safe
