8th March 2010
During the course of Friday night we had a car stolen from a house in Okkerneut street under suspicious circumstances. Car was recovered on Beyers Naude.
Then at approx 05h00 Saturday morning a car was stolen from a home in Papaja Street. Domestic heard the noise, went to check and was told by the suspects to go back in the house.
Last Friday night we had two attempts at car theft in Kroton Street. No access gained to premises. So we are certainly being targeted when cars stand out. Please ensure gates are locked, cars are lit up and valuables are not left in the car.
New month, please check on your subs as Feb saw a decline in monthly subs?? But welcome to a number of new members, we continue to grow.
In line with all our problems occurring on the weekends at present, an anti-crime weekend is being planned. Please get involved. Anyone willing to help me plan?
Stay safe

22nd February 2010
Hi all
Eventful weekend.
Thank you to all those that came along on Saturday to help start cleaning the park. There was lots of cutting, cleaning, weeding, painting etc. Think what we could do if we had more people. It's regrettable we need to do this but if we are going to make CKN neater and cleaner, we will have to do the finer things ourselves. Another date will be advised to do some more in the area.
Yesterday at about 18h00 there was an armed robbery (home invasion) in Draaibos Street. Grandmother and grandson held at gunpoint and locked in the bathroom. Fortunately no one hurt. Appears access gained via an open door. Please lock all security gates when you are at home and inside.
Then burglary in Boomgom between 19h00 and 19h30. Bizarre time.
Please ensure if you are a CKN member you have the BLUE and WHITE CKN/Aqua board and that you regularly test your alarm.
Remain aware at all times and report any suspicious activity. Know your neighbour!

16th February 2010
Hi all
No real news to speak of in the area as all remains quiet. Please remain aware at all times. We did have suspicious characters knocking on doors saying they were there to clean carpets. The domestic refused to let them in and when she advised she was calling her employer, they fled.
Clean up for Saturday is still on. Time 13h00 to 15h00, meet at the park in Kroton Street. 20 FEB.
Dependant on how many folk arrive will mean how much we can get done. Please bring anything you think may help eg spades, brooms etc. Petrol driven weed eaters welcome! Also anyone with a bakkie or trailer?
Gautrans have started cutting Hendrik Potgieter after lots of calls and faxes!
Think all for now.
Stay safe

2nd February 2010
Hi all
All quiet in the area and I am not aware of any problems since the burglary earlier this year. So we stand at once incident to date. However we have had various armed robberies above us and the same suspects that attacked one of our residents late last year were seen. I have just learnt 4 were caught after a shoot out with the police. Please do not let your guard down at anytime.
CKN meeting Thursday 4 Feb at 19h30 at 48 Bamboes. Please join us. Main agenda item is the clean up planned for 20 Feb. I need help if we are going to get this done. Regrettably service delivery remains a big concern and if we are going to have a clean and neat neighborhood, it will be up to us.
Think that's all for now. Please diarise 20 Feb at 13h00 for the clean up. The more the merrier. Only two hours of your time is requested.
Stay safe

26th January 2010
Hi all
All quiet in the area but as always, please remain vigilant.
Due to the constant rain and requests to move the clean up as folk want to help, I am going to move the clean up date to 20 Feb. I hope this means more folk will get involved - we need you.
Only two hours of your time to make the area neat and tidy.
Please let me know if you can help me organise the time.
All for now. Month end, please check your subs. We have numerous homes receiving the discounted armed response rate from Aqua but NOT paying CKN as per the agreement with Aqua. Please check as we need your support.
Stay safe ...........and dry

18th January 2010
Hi all
Not much to report on but we did start the year off in the first week with a burglary in Boomgom.
Lap-top taken so once again I still feel these hiccups come from within the area.
Alarm was set but the security company claims they did not get a signal. Please test your alarm regularly.
CKN clean up on 30 Jan from 13h00, all we ask is 2 hrs. We need to help if we are going to make an impact in the area.
Wanted - domestic 2/3 times a week. Please contact Nelia - 078 853 1233 - Okkerneut Street
Stay safe
